H.E. Lou Kimchhun, Director General of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, stated earlier this week that the first phase of the deep-water port will be completed in 2022, with the second phase following in 2025.
A US$200 million concessional loan from the Japanese government will pay the first phase of the project, which is 350 meters long and 14.5 meters deep.
The second and third phases are expected to be completed in 2028 and 2030, respectively, according to H.E. Lou Kimchhun.
He explained that the port's capacity and facilities are being upgraded in response to the increased cargo flowing through the port.
