Compass Cambodia report - On Saturday, the first passenger bullet train connecting China and Laos was handed to its operator in the Lao capital, with plans to start running on December 2, Laos' National Day.
According to CGTN, the train's test runs are likely to begin soon before the official opening day.
The train is an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) which will travel at a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour over the freshly completed 1,000-kilometer track.
The train will be operated by the Laos-China Railway Company, a joint venture for the railway's construction and management in Vientiane, and will be named "Lancang" in honor of Laos' old name and the Lancang-Mekong River.
The train's exterior is painted in the colors of Laos' national flag, red, blue, and white, while the interior is decorated with patterns of Dok Champa, the country's national symbol.
The train, which has a capacity of 720 passengers, has amenities for people with impairments as well as information services in Chinese, Lao, and English.
