Compass Cambodia report - The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has granted private companies permission to invest US$8.5 million in the construction of three new factories in Kandal and Phnom Penh.
The first investment permit has been issued to New T&K Textile Co., Ltd, which plans to invest US$2 million in Trapeang Krasaing village, Sangkat Trapeang Krasaing, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, to develop a garment factory.
The second is Yuan Shen Tai Co., Ltd, which plans to invest US$3.2 million in Andong village, Bek Chan commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province, to build a shoe and footwear factory.
And then, Fortune Broad Footwear Co., Ltd was given the investment permit, with the company investing US$3.3 million to develop a shoe and footwear factory in Ang Snoul.
Over 4,300 jobs will be created for Cambodians as a result of these three investment projects.
According to a CDC report, the CDC approved 87 new investments, both new and expansion projects, totaling about US$3 billion in the first half of 2021, an increase of roughly 10% over the same period last year.
