First Phase of Koh Norea Development Project 48% Complete & Set For Completion in 2023

Compass Cambodia report - Despite the pandemic, construction of the primary infrastructure for the US$2.5 billion Koh Norea development project is on schedule, with an average of 48 percent completion as of September 2021.

Men Poly, the project's general manager, said on Wednesday, September 15 that the construction is divided into five main sections, each of which is progressing at a distinct rate.

The main and small riverbank structures are 78 percent and 50 percent complete, respectively, while the landfilling work is 85 percent complete. Meanwhile, the Koh Norea-NR1 and Koh Norea-Koh Pich bridges are 2.5 percent and 27 percent complete, respectively, according to Mr Poly.

"Everything is going according to plan and on time. The riverbank construction is projected to be finished by 2022, with the first phase of the overall infrastructure set to be finished in June 2023," he added.

This multibillion-dollar project, which is being built on approximately 125 hectares of land, will include commercial areas, theaters, parks, residential areas, residential buildings, banks, universities, and medical centers, among other things.

The island development began in 2018, and the two bridges began in October of last year.
