Compass Cambodia report, July 28 - HE Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, asked all necessary officials to expedite work on the new port law during an official meeting on Monday, July 26.
According to HE Sun Chanthol, the project team has finished the majority of the text so far.
"We are currently modifying the meaning, wording, and spelling of some areas of the draft to make it more comprehensive," the minister stated.
"The major goal of this law is to efficiently control and manage Cambodia's port system. We intend to boost Cambodia's competitiveness in the area with this new law by delivering reliable services at reasonable prices," he added.
Following the completion of the draft law, it will be presented to an inter-ministerial meeting for approval.
Cambodia has 78 river ports and 27 seaports as of presently. At the national, regional, and international levels, these ports play an important role in supporting a variety of trade activities.
