Compass Cambodia report, July 16th - According to the 2035 Phnom Penh land-use master plan, Takhmao City and the Phnom Penh suburbs along NR3 and NR4 have been identified as areas for commercial activity and industry clusters.
Economic activity such as factories will no longer be placed within the administrative boundaries of Phnom Penh. According to the master plan, locating manufacturing outside of the city will improve the city's aesthetics, alleviate traffic congestion, and simplify the transfer of heavy vehicles without having to enter the city.
As the matter of fact, within a 20-kilometer radius of the administrative border of Phnom Penh, the area along NR4 has already welcomed over 50 factories. Phnom Penh's border will be expanded 30 kilometers from the current capital center in the future, allowing it to cover practically the whole northern half of Kandal province.
