Cambodia Compass report, 17th June - Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol met with the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham) to discuss transportation infrastructure prospects and investment potential yesterday morning.
On behalf of the Amcham board, several AmCham members attended the meeting, including Vice President Pily Wong, Secretary Christopher McCarty, Governors Kim Tan-Am, Michael Berg, and Ashley Irving, and Governor and Amcham president and CEO of Cambodia Investment Management Anthony Galliano.
Sun Chanthol not only urged more US corporations to invest in Cambodia's infrastructure sector, but he also emphasized the country's achievements.
Some of the ministry's achievements include considerable road extension across the country, a new revolutionary road maintenance app and method, and asphalt upgrade.
According to Chanthol, Cambodia has begun to incorporate technology into its infrastructure system, as indicated by the development of several apps and GPS installations.
The ministry is now solar-powered, and it has established its own technical school to increase the country's skills and capabilities.
The government is also working on developing a deep-sea port in Sihanoukville and extending the port in Phnom Penh.
MPWT also plans to implement a green mobility policy that encourages the usage of more electric vehicles.
Following the discussion, the parties decided to continue cooperating to move Cambodia's infrastructure development forward.
